💡IMPORTANT CHANGES

• Two lesions previously (2005) classified as odontogenic tumors have been classified as odontogenic cysts.

  1. Keratcystic odontogenic tumor re-designated as “Odontogenic keratocyst” is listed as an Odontogenic cyst

  2. Calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor re-designated as “Calcifying odontogenic cyst” is listed as an Odontogenic cyst

• Orthokeratinized odontogenic cyst is a distinct odontogenic cyst. It is not a variant of Odontogenic keratocyst.

• The classification avoids listing the variants of cysts (though they are odontogenic cysts) like the “Eruption cyst” (variant of Dentigerous cyst) and the “Residual” and “Lateral” cysts (variants/subsets of Radicular cyst).
